Because the surfaces of both the interior part and the inside surface have been carefully machined to be extra smooth, the action feels amazingly satisfying. The Standard [5.6"] comes with a Pilot G2 0.7 mm refill, the Short [5.1"] comes with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium refill, and the Mini [4.4"] comes with a Pilot G2 Mini 0.7mm refill. Many of our customers like to use their own personal favorites, however, and so we put together a list of compatible refills that work with our pens.

And there are four options to choose from: titanium, copper, bronze, and zirconium. We picked those four because they're popular, fun to machine, and can withstand a lifetime of use.

TITANIUM

Tough, lightweight, extremely corrosion resistant, and the best-selling material we work with. If this is your first Tactile Turn product, we recommend starting with titanium.

COPPER

One of the few metallic elements with a natural color other than gray or silver. Naturally antimicrobial, copper will patina and darken with time and use.

BRONZE

Consisting mostly of copper, tin, and other metals like aluminum, manganese, nickel, or zinc. Bronze machines beautifully and looks great when highly polished or with some patina.

ZIRCONIUM

Directly below titanium on the periodic table with similar corrosion resistance. Zirconium is difficult to machine and one of the most expensive materials we work with but lustrous, dark grey color looks amazing.

    Great Pen

    I don't know why I waited so long to order this pen. I usually use fountain pens but after receiving this pen I find myself reaching for it most of the time. Excellent tactile feel in the hand, one of the best writing experiences I've had when I get the refill cut right.

    My only issue is having to get the Pilot Precise V5 RT pen refill cut just right but I knew I was going to have to do that when I ordered the short. If you are curious about buying one just go on & buy it! It's an awesome pen!

    Bolt action pen review

    I like my bolt action pen. I like the manufacturing and the feel of the pen in my hand. I like that it takes a pilot G2 refill or something of similar size and availability. I plan to buy more of these pens for those I care about as gifts.

    Great pen

    I purchased 1 pen for myself in titanium then a copper pen. Had to add a copper pencil later.

    Wife had to have a titanium pen, I have purchased over 6 pen now, they make great gifts
