A Fresh Perspective
We've been thinking about doing a Clip Action (internally referred to as the "Clip Actuated Bolt Action" or CABA) for a while but couldn't come up with a new or interesting way of doing it that was distinct from all the other pens out there. Then, some time in late 2025, we had the idea of a milled and bent titanium clip with a relief cut that keeps it just off the body to ensure good tension on both thin materials like dress shirts and thick materials like jeans. Matt and the team got to work creating the models which resulted in a 2-piece, dovetail-slotted carrier to secure the clip. The end result is a fidget-friendly mechanism that's a ton of fun to use and is a natural addition to our existing catalog. Made from titanium and offered in three finishes (Machined, Stonewashed, DLC) in both Standard and Short lengths, the Clip Action is our take on a simple yet elegant mechanism built to withstand a lifetime of use.

Why not a "Slim" diameter version?
Standard diameter versions are by far more popular than our slim versions so that's what we typically start with. The current design is made specifically for the standard diameter (0.43") and would have to be reworked for a slim body. That's not to say we won't do it eventually but, depending on the demand for this mechanism, it might be a while.
What do you look for in mechanisms?
When Will saw the Mitsubishi Boxy pens a few years ago he immediately wanted to do an all-metal version so we made it happen with the Side Click. Since then, we've been on the lookout for mechanisms that meet three basic requirements: 1) Manufacturable, 2) Reliable, 3) Satisfying/Fidgety. It's fairly easy to get one or two of those things but much harder to do all three.
Why no "Mini" length?
Unfortunately, Pilot who makes the Mini G2 refill announced they will not longer be in production so we are in the process of phasing out the Mini length. We plan to explore other "mini" ink refill options for a shorter length in the future.

This pen is awesome. Tactile Turn has really done something special with this one. It is very sturdy while maintaining a comfortable weight. The clip has enough flexibility to easily slide into pockets of various materials. The action is smooth and satisfying.
I had a small issue and they worked vigilantly to get it resolved. Top tier customer service along with high quality products.

The clip action is easy to activate and is smooth, though I wish TT made the clip action going away from the web of the hand ( being a right hand user ), though this may work out for a left hand user. But this personal experience is a picky one and I can overlook it in the long run.
I like the dual purpose of the clip as a clip and nib activator.
As usual, Tactileturn produces solid products that are versatile and solidly made to last past our lifetimes.
So far, I have had no regrets in buying from Tactileturn.

Love the pen. Great for pocket carry. Slight grittiness in the bolt to body action (not unexpected from, steel on steel). Expecting the viscosity to rise as they polish on each other. No lubricant added

The clip action is a unique variation of a click pen, and so far I like the action. It is very smooth and easy to operate. Like all of the Tacttile Turn pens, it is well made and I expect to get a lot of use out of it. I’m a big fan of the bolt action too. I recommend this and any of the Tactile Turn products, especially if you’re looking for a well, unique writing instrument.
