The Golden Age of Piracy lasted roughly between the 1650s and the 1730s and brought us infamous captains like Blackbeard, Henry Morgan, and Samuel Bellamy whose legacies we still recognize today. Something about the freedom, adventure, and danger from sailing the seven seas in search of treasure sparks a sense of intrigue mixed with excitement – a feeling we hoped to capture with our latest Seasonal Release, the Buccaneer.
Starting with our best-selling model, the Titanium Bolt Action pen, our talented team of Cerakote painters toiled away in the brig for months to get the perfect woodgrain pattern for the body. We wanted the wood to look worn and have some character that's unique to each pen. To complete the design, we turned the clip into a weatherned treasure map, added a pop of red in the bolt channel to invoke the red bandanas and sashes worn by the crew, and dug up some real 24kt gold plated stainless steel bolts for a taste of the riches to come. Of course, no pirate ship is complete without a flag so we had to include a laser engraved Jolly Roger on the black end cap.
Like with all of our Seasonal Releases, the Buccaneer is available in 3 lengths for maximum ink refill compatibility: Standard (Pilot G2 0.7mm), Short (Schmidt EasyFlow 9000), and Mini (Pilot G2 0.7mm Mini). Each order includes a commemorative box, sticker, and custom temporary tattoo sheet with illustrations from NY-based artist, Premo Designs. Fully Custom Cerakote Finishing
Cerakote is a thin coating of ceramic that we apply to the surface of titanium pens in our own paint shop. It's abrasion, chemical, temperature, and scratch resistance but not proof. Hard wear will still show on Cerakote but we love that it gives us the ability to put colors on our pens without adding any serious weight or thickness.
