Normally, yes. We tend to stick with materials like titanium, copper, and bronze because of their toughness and corrosion resistance, just for fun, we ordered some Ultem® 1000 and did a run of Bolt Action pens and Bexar Slipjoint knives. Ultem has high mechanical strength and heat resistance which makes it ideal for harsh environments. The diameter is slightly wider than our normal line but the action is so incredibly smooth we don't think you'll mind.

The Standard [5.6"] comes with a Pilot G2 0.7 mm refill and the Short [5.1"] comes with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium refill, and the Mini [4.4"] comes with a Pilot G2 Mini 0.7mm refill. Many of our customers like to use their own personal favorites, however, and so we put together a list of compatible refills that work with our pens.

I am very pleased with this pen, the fit n finish is superb. It is of course a good writer, and it’s fun, enjoyable and just so cool. I am usually found with one of my many Lamy, Kaweco or even twisbi fountain pens, but now I have a reason to boast about a ball point pen. This will be well used and enjoyed for a long time. Thanks!

So here's the thing- so many pens have super slim barrels, and while these can be nice, for a guy with bigger hands, I was looking for something a little girthier. This pen DELIVERED. The milling is great and the G2 cartridge have been fabulous for notes, signing receipts, and journaling. I don't quote Parks and Rec every day, but I'm going to here: "Treat yourself."

I purchased the Ultem Bolt Action Mini. I really like it a lot, my 3 star rating reflects the value. I’m not sure it’s worth 100 dollars, but it’s a really nice feeling pen. It comes with the G2 mini refill and it writes very nicely. It feels as if it could last a very long time. No complaints on the pen at all other than questioning of the pen is worth the price.
Edit. I’m revising this review. I upgraded it to 4 stars. I love the pen after using it for the last few weeks. 100 dollars is still really expensive for a pen and that’s the only reason I don’t give it 5 stars. I have no idea if tactile turn ever has sales or discounts but I’ll be looking. I’d like to get another one in the regular size.

Great feel when holding the pen. Not of fan of how it writes, the ink doesn’t flow smoothly and can smear if you’re not careful. Also, assuming the ultem does not have the weight of the other metal pens, I may have to order another one. I prefer a gel type pen in regards to how it writes, will look into the brushed titanium and ask about refill options
