The unique bolt action shape allows for one fluid motion to advance or retract the refill. Because the surfaces of both the interior part and the inside surface have been carefully machined to be extra smooth, the action feels amazingly satisfying. The Standard [5.6"] comes with a Pilot G2 0.7 mm refill, the Short [5.1"] comes with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium refill, and the Mini [4.4"] comes with a Pilot G2 Mini 0.7mm refill. Many of our customers like to use their own personal favorites, however, and so we put together a list of compatible refills that work with our pens.

And there are four options to choose from: titanium, copper, bronze, and zirconium. We picked those four because they're popular, fun to machine, and can withstand a lifetime of use.

TITANIUM

Tough, lightweight, extremely corrosion resistant, and the best-selling material we work with. If this is your first Tactile Turn product, we recommend starting with titanium.

COPPER

One of the few metallic elements with a natural color other than gray or silver. Naturally antimicrobial, copper will patina and darken with time and use.

BRONZE

Consisting mostly of copper, tin, and other metals like aluminum, manganese, nickel, or zinc. Bronze machines beautifully and looks great when highly polished or with some patina.

ZIRCONIUM

Directly below titanium on the periodic table with similar corrosion resistance. Zirconium is difficult to machine and one of the most expensive materials we work with but lustrous, dark grey color looks amazing.

    Great Pen and Great Service!

    Extremely helpful when the original shipment was lost to ship out another one quickly. This pen is great, takes my favorite uni refills and has great texture for writing. The bolt may need some breaking in to get to buttery smooth but I have faith in the build quality and mechanism. Overall very high marks.

    An absolute work of art!

    There are lots of pens out there that are beautiful to look at and write with. However this is probably the most unique design I’ve ever come across. It is truly an incredibly well machined pen with extremely tight tolerances. This is evident in how the grip section and barrel of the pen mate. The “tactile turn” finish is so well machined that you CANNOT see where the grip section and barrel meet. Truly amazing! I also love how the stainless steel clip and the copper body contrast. It’s a beautiful pen that is just as much enjoyable to look at as it is to use. It is also a great plus that the bolt action is extremely satisfying to use. I would highly recommend this pen to anyone looking for a solid, American made pen.
